Our Commitment to You

Privacy Policy

Your trust matters. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information and how you can stay in control of your data.

Introduction

Kylie Flament’s independent campaign for Keira is built on trust, transparency, and respect for our community. We’re committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who connects with us, whether you’re a supporter, volunteer, donor, customer, or simply curious about what we stand for.

This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information. It also sets out your rights and how to get in touch if you have questions.

In this policy, “we” and “us” means Kylie Flament, independent candidate for Keira, and the volunteers and contractors who help run the campaign. Our postal address is Level 2, 172-174 Keira Street, Wollongong NSW 2500.

What Information We Collect

We collect most personal information directly from you, for example when you fill in a form on our website, sign up at an event, make a donation or buy merchandise. Some information is collected automatically, such as website analytics. This may include:

  • Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number or address
  • Information you provide when signing up to volunteer or join the movement
  • Donation details, including the information we must keep under NSW electoral funding laws
  • Merchandise order and payment details (see “Merchandise and In-Person Payments” below)
  • Information from conversations with our volunteers, for example when we doorknock or meet you at a stall (see “Doorknocking” below)
  • Responses from forms, surveys, community engagement tools, or event registrations
  • Website analytics such as cookies and traffic data, used to improve the site experience

Doorknocking: our doorknocking lists contain street addresses only, drawn from Australia’s national address dataset. They do not include residents’ names. When a volunteer visits, we record the outcome of the visit (for example, whether anyone was home). If you choose to speak with us, we may also record your name and contact details, how strongly you support the campaign, and notes about the issues you raise.

Because this is a political campaign, some information we hold, such as whether you support, volunteer for or donate to the campaign, or views you share with us, may reveal your political opinions. The law treats this as sensitive information. We only collect it with your consent, use it only for the campaign, and handle it with extra care.

Merchandise and In-Person Payments

We sell campaign merchandise through our online shop and in person at events and stalls.

  • Online orders: we collect your name, contact details and delivery address so we can process and deliver your order.
  • In-person purchases: card payments are processed by Square. We do not create or keep customer profiles from in-person card payments. If you ask for a digital receipt, you’ll give us an email address or mobile number so it can be sent to you.

We keep a record of sales so we can maintain accurate campaign finance records. Buying merchandise does not sign you up to campaign updates. You’ll only hear from us if you sign up separately.

Square also handles payment information under its own Buyer Privacy Notice, which explains how you can manage marketing from Square and from other businesses that use Square.

How We Use Your Information

Your information helps us run a cleaner, greener, fairer, and kinder campaign. We use it to:

  • Keep you informed about campaign updates, events, and news (only if you’ve signed up)
  • Coordinate volunteer activities and match people with roles that suit them
  • Respond to enquiries and engage with our community
  • Process donations and merchandise orders, and issue receipts
  • Improve the website experience and understand what matters to people in Keira
  • Meet our legal obligations, including electoral funding and disclosure requirements

Personal information is never sold, shared for profit, or used for purposes unrelated to this campaign.

Disclosure to Third Parties

We only share personal information in limited circumstances:

  • With service providers who help us run the campaign, including CORE Australia (our website, supporter database and COREmail email platform), eWAY (online donations and online shop payments), and Square (in-person payments). They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
  • With the NSW Electoral Commission, as required by NSW electoral funding laws. Donations of $1,000 or more, including smaller donations from the same person that add up to $1,000, must be disclosed, and details of these donations are published on the Commission’s website.
  • When otherwise required by law or a regulatory body
  • With your consent

Our website and supporter database are hosted in Australia. Some of our payment providers are part of international groups and may store or access information outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this happens, we choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable with Australian privacy law.

We do not share information with other political parties or external marketers.

Data Storage & Security

We take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure. This includes using reputable systems for donations and communications, restricting access to those who need it, and protecting data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the campaign and to meet our legal obligations, including electoral funding record-keeping requirements. After that, we securely delete or de-identify it.

While no system is completely risk-free, we choose providers and practices that reflect our values of integrity and care for our community. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will let you know and tell you what you can do to protect yourself.

Cookies & Website Tracking

Our website uses cookies and analytics tools to understand how people engage with the site and to improve their experience. This may include information about which pages are visited, how long people stay, and what devices or browsers they use.

You can disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Some features of the site may work differently if cookies are turned off.

Accessing or Updating Your Information

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or update it. We’re happy to help, just reach out.

Email us at hello@kylieflament.com.au.

Opting Out

You can unsubscribe from campaign communications at any time. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also contact us directly to update your preferences or stop receiving messages.

Opting out of communications will not remove your information from our systems entirely, but it will stop active contact. If you would like your details deleted, please let us know.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our campaign grows or as legal requirements change. The most current version will always be available on this page, and we encourage you to check back occasionally.
